Kraptor’s Night of the Living Dead

Kraptor’s Night of the Living Dead

San Cristabol, Venezuela’s Kraptor is an old school punk-thrash throwback to the cross over days of DRI and crowded early pits of Exodus, Sepultura and Slayer, harnessing the late 80’s-early/mid 90’s sound bringing it modern day. Singer Felipe Alvarez yells with a deep Kurt Brecht like bulldog yell and a bit of John Tardy’s death-doom growl.

Inspired by both theatrical and real-life horror and George Romero’s eye for gore, Kraptor turns the zombie feast into flesh ripping riffs, blast beat speed life threatening chases and a comical look at the masks of political fakery.

The record starts with the foreboding, foreshadowing, haunting acoustic Curfew for the Damned Graves. Night of the Living Dead features Violators Pedro Poney. You’re either staggering around with a half-rotted drooling growl or running scared on the Overkill guitars of Damage Brain. Murder King has slower but no less monstrous building riffs.

The Barbara’s Undead Chronicles is a unique newscast intro and warning of certain doom. When zombies attack, you’ll only last for so long. Civil Disobedience featuring Rick Rangel of Fueled By Fire, is a machine gun drummed furious guitar chase race to the nearest shopping mall for refuge.

Unknown Medical Infection infects humanity. Is there hope for a cure? Borrowing a page from H.P. Lovecraft the dead reanimate in glowing fashion. The headlines continue as the soothsaying powers that be claim unknown terrorists are attacking. Don’t believe Leatherfake, he’s two faced. We end with a soft, acoustic somber Dawning of a new dead. As the sun sets on the slaughtered fallen and a new sun rises.

Formed in 2007, Kraptor established a high energy, emblematic reputation earning the opening spot on the 2010 Monsters of Rock Festival in Maracay City for German headliners Tankard. In February 2011 they released their first EP        F—–G Liar to positive scene reaction.

They’ve shared the stage with national and international bands Violator (Brazil), Yaotl Mictlan (USA), Intoxxxicated and Anabantha (Mexico), Blasphemy (Venezuela), and Cuentos de los Hermanos Grind (Colombia) among others.

After a one month tour of Mexico in August 2013 they were chosen to support Violator on Metal Warrior Fest VI in Colombia. In mid-2013 they released a new split album “N.F.T.F.T.” (New Forces Together For Thrash) with Brazilian thrash metal band Angry.
