Everyone knows he run’s, fetches and plays dead but as of February 28 the dog showed some new tricks. The five outfits making up the See Spot Rock tour hit the stage to a packed house at The Avenue of unprecedented heights and sound levels. The evening festivities opened with Ohio four piece Sanctus Real playing cuts from their best record yet Say It Loud.
Hip-Hop humorist John Reuben brought out his positive life based unity driven raps spitting, hand-waving, record scratching, and body-scribbling messages to the bouncing masses as every hand in the place raised to his. His stories spoke of an inner city upbringing with well-placed jokes and self-mocking humor bringing as much laughter as loudness.
Pillar almost literary exploded onto the stage. The band newly signed to MCA played tracks Above and Fireproof then back resurrecting older tracks Metamorphosis and Original Superman.
Relient-K proved as reliable as their Plymouth name sake releasing tunes from their new Two Lefts Don’t Make a Right but Three Do CD. The band’s shared stages with New Found Glory and Good Charlotte along with sound track credits on Tough Enough 3, an appearance on Smallville and features on E! News. Their Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek was also represented.
The Orange County Super Tones unleashed a noise filled horn section playing everything from Metallica to their own adrenaline laced harmonies. Dressed in suit and ties they unleashed tunes, water, beach balls, more water and tunes from their Hi-Fi Revival record. The performance was a sight to see. If trumpets and sax playing the first 5-10 seconds of Master of Puppets (yeah it happened) wasn’t enough the crowd was soon soaked with God’s groove and several ounces of Ohio’s finest bottles of H20.
