Ever wonder what Doro Pesch fronting Godsmack might have sounded like? What if Sully Erna had a similarly guttural throated sister? Chicago-based A.D.D. is starting 2015 with a bang, releasing their 2nd full-length album Core via Pavement Entertainment. So far they’ve achieved independent success with 6,000 CD’s sold and over 4,000 paid downloads. They have shared stages with KORN, Chevelle, Halestorm, Sevendust, Alterbridge, and Buckcherry and have headlined Chicago hotspots House of Blues, Metro and Mojoes. They have also covered the festival circuit playing Throttlefest at Toyota Park, Summerfest at Milwaukee Fairgrounds, and WIIL Rockfest in Twin Lakes, WI. The album has already been played at stations in South West Chicago, Peoria, IL, and Chicago, IL. The band plans to tour throughout the year supporting Core.
Vocalist Matilda Moon lashes out power and attitude like dread lock whips with harsh and commanding delivery. She will make you believe she has lived what she preaches. Along with a hard guitar crunch and some contemporary heavy ballads, A.D.D. could be compared to a female driven Godsmack with disturbing effect.
Opener “I Regret” has strong melody with power stricken vocals. Guitarist Jeremy Sparta gives “Was My Life” a masculine ballad feel about the grueling life on the road in 80’s metal video style, without the headband, leather pants and Aquanet. Keep chasing those dreams. This songs about that “Damn Thing” you do and I don’t give a damn anyway. Guitars wrench out the bleeding emotion on the heavily distraught “So the Pain.”
Moon channels Hetfield and Erna on the thudding “Nightmare.” The self-torture of “Nothing Left” goes from growling guitar to playful picking. They finish with their taste and take on Sevendust’s “Black.”
