Mike Ritchie is a freelance music journalist from Dayton. After receiving a Bachelor’s in Comprehensive Communication from the University of Rio Grande he wrote for the Christian Citizen Newspaper covering the Christian music scene from 1999- the mid 2000’s reviewing CD’s and local and national/international acts including Audio Adrenaline, Skillet and The Benjamin Gate.
From May-August 2012 he returned to the scene writing CD reviews for POD and For Today for CitizenUSA.net also covering local and national bands and tours including Becoming the Archetype, A Plea For Purging and the Scream the Prayer tour featuring Demon Hunter at the Attic.
From August 2012-February 2015 he was an active contributor to www.mostmetro.com reviewing CD’s for local bands of all genre’s and covering local concerts, charities, fundraisers and movies and national/international bands. He also frequently covers Columbus and Cincinnati.
He currently contributes to LA sites Screamer Magazine and The LA Beat along with San Diego based Slickster Magazine and Northern California’s Indiepulsemusic.wordpress.com.
He has also written for Pavement Entertainment, Tooth & Nail Records, Lifeforce Records, Dark harvest Records, Columbusunderground.com, shortandandsweetla.com, shortandsweetnyc.com. Internationally he’s contributed to Against Magazine (Portugal) and Burst Magazine via Afternoiz.com (Greece).
He’s reviewed many local shows and a large variety of regional to international talent. He has also wrote features on Lemmy, Nergal, Malcolm Young, Metallica, Judas Priest, Killer Be Killed, At the Gates, Marilyn Manson, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Trent Reznor.
Recently he’s interviewed Kiss’s Paul Stanley, The Dead Daisies John Corabi, Korn’s Ray Luzier and Steve “Zetro” Sousza from Exodus.
He eventually wants to cover entertainment and music in LA full-time.
