Once again Solid State brings us another band that sounds as soothing and gentle as an oncoming train on a high bridge with no escape. Indianapolis’s Haste the Day hit uncomfortably close with a pelting shot to the stomach with Burning Bridges. With a fusion of punk and metal they prove they’re not just another heavy band that screams. CD cover art of a heavenly Goth chick is laden with dark eerie lyrics with some selectively placed spoken words.
While not brutal, the band carries its own playing well on the pit friendly side. Sometimes it’s fast, sometimes it’s slow and sometimes right smack in the middle, where most fans would try to be at the shows. It’s banging enough for suitable pit training and your friends will happily smash into you with smiles.
On the body of metal/punk rock we’re in mid-riff territory which in today’s fashion can be a very alluring attention grabber. They’ve played along-side Dead Poetic, Norma Jean, Underoath and Beloved and will be touring with As I Lay Dying, Zao and Throwdown in July. www.hastetheday.com.
