Bleach returns with Astronomy, the follow up to 2002’s Again For The First Time. Long-time fans will not be disappointed with what’s delivered though they might be surprised by the deep emotional feelings embedded in the songs inspired by real life experiences, and tragedies. There’s plenty of rock and roll to be found but also a dark inspiration resulting from writers block and tremendous personal tragedy. The song Tired Heart is a salute to Captain Josh Byers, brother of Milam and Jared Byers. The song deals with his struggle in the Middle Eastern conflict watching his fellow soldiers die by his side.
On July 23, 2003 news spread that one of the many great American freedom fighters had been killed in action. During the funeral fellow soldiers told stories of Byers’ remarkable heroism volunteering for extra assignments and night missions to insure the safe quick return home for his men, using Bleach’s music as their personal war cry to victory. Previously the band was unsure of the music’s meaning but afterwards the meaning was undeniable. The CD carries hope but also acknowledges there’s a reason for everything whether good or bad and a reason it puts you in the place you end up whether planned or not.
